Anyone who says Bootstrap and jQuery are okay but SCSS isn’t is a fucking moron.

I agree that Angular is trash, but there’s also Vue and React and others. SPA’s are in fact here to stay forever. Why? Cause the UX of an app-like experience is objectively better than a page that has to reload for every server call. Search engines do great with SPA’s these days, and the browser in general is evolving towards their adoption.

Yea front-end has gotten more complicated. No that’s no necessary a bad thing. If you’re just making a website, feel free to keep it simpler (probably for the best), but save yourself 400kb by taking out jQuery and Bootstrap.
